Description:

Tamoxifen citrate is a nonsteroid anti-estrogenic drug, applied widely in clinical medicine. Its specifically a Selective Estrogen-Receptor Modulator (SERM) of the triphenylethylene family, and has both oestrogen agonist and antagonist properties. As such, it can act as an oestrogen in some tissues while blocking the action of oestrogen in others. In breast tissue tamoxifen citrate ( nolvadex ) is a strong anti-estrogen, and as a result its generally practised in the treatment of hormone-responsive breast cancer in women. Tamoxifen citrate (nolvadex) also possesses the ability to increase production of FSH (follicle stimulating hormone) and LH (luteinizing hormone). This is accomplished by blocking negative feedback inhibition caused by oestrogen at the hypothalamus and pituitary, which fosters the release of the mentioned pituitary hormones. Since anabolic/androgenic steroids tend to suppress endogenous testosterone production, tamoxifen citrate (nolvadex) can assist restore a balance in hormone levels.
